The History of Bloodstone
In the Middle Ages, the red splatters that give dark green Bloodstone its name were believed to be the blood of Christ and beautiful Bloodstone’s properties could hardly be more epic and powerful.
Legend says Bloodstone was originally formed when drops of Christ's blood fell and stained some Jasper at the foot of the cross. Because of this, it is said to have some seriously special powers.
Recognising Bloodstone
Bloodstone (also known as Heliotrope) – a combination of Green Chalcedony and Red Jasper, is found in India, Brazil, China, Australia, the United States, the Czech Republic, Germany, Russia, and Scotland.
Bloodstone, along with Aquamarine, is the traditional birthstone for March. It can come in a myriad of shapes and cuts, with the most common forms of cabochon, cushion cut, emerald cut, octagonal, oval and round.
What is Bloodstone used for?
