Mexican Amber is one of the highest quality ambers in the world. It is harder than most other ambers, which makes it more durable for carvings and jewellery.

All of our amber is untreated and comes in a very diverse array of colours. It is found in golden yellow, honey, cognac, orange, and blood red. Mexican amber is unique in that under sunlight and white light it fluoresces green and sometimes blue.

Mexican amber is mined from the state of Chiapas, in southern Mexico. Chiapas amber is 24-30 million years old. It originates from the resin of the extinct tropical tree Hymenaea Protera. This is the same genus of tree that produced amber from the Dominican Republic. As a fossilised resin, amber is not a mineral and one of the few organic gemstones recognised by the gemological world.
