Spotlight on | Angelite
Think of Angelite as your personal, pocket sized Guardian Angel. Angelite is a stone that can bring serenity, inner peace and a sense of calm quicker than a glass of your favourite vino. Angelite is the perfect stone to reach for when you need to calm the F-Train down, it dispels fear and anger and encourages forgiveness (keep on hand for the next time your housemate leaves the toilet seat up).
The History of Angelite
Anhydrite itself was discovered in 1794, and named by A.G. Werner in 1804 due to the lack of water crystallisation. The blue form of Anhydrite is called Angelite because of the heavenly blue colour.
The variety of Anhydrite known as Angelite was found in Peru in 1987 during the Harmonic Convergence, it has since been found in Britain, Germany, Poland, Libya, Egypt and Mexico and it is now one of the most popular stones on our roster.
If Anhydrite gets wet, whether immersed in water or worn as Angelite in the shower or pool, the mineral will turn to common Gypsum. So – heads up – you might not want to wear your Angelite pendant next time you go for a dip.
Recognising Angelite
Angelite is a type of blue Anhydrite Gypsum, its colour is commonly medium to pale blue, but some pieces may be bluish white or white in colour, with the occasional tiny red Hematite inclusions.
It looks a lot like Blue Calcite, but it has a different appearance, as it is denser and quite opaque. Although it is said that it can be found as crystals, these are quite uncommon and it is more likely to be seen in the massive form.
What is Angelite used for?
The vibration of this heavenly blue stone reminds you that you are not alone. Your angels are always surrounding you. Your Angelite companion will comfort and support you during difficult times, reassuring you that it is okay to ask for help. It may help to relieve tension, anger and stress and it is particularly helpful at times when your emotions might be inclined to get the best of you. The clarity that Angelite brings not only helps you to begin answering your own questions, it also heals the feeling of vulnerability with a blanket of reassuring energy.
Angelite has an excellent action within the throat chakra, where its energy is well known for improving communication abilities. It also resonates within the third eye chakra and crown chakra. This is an exquisite blue stone with a calming and soothing vibration.
Working with it helps to relieve tension, stress and anger, while facilitating forgiveness and stimulating healing.
Psychically, Angelite is used to connect with spirit guides, the higher self, and, of course, guardian angels. It is excellent for enhancing telepathy, psychic awareness, astral travel and spirit journeys. Angelite is also perfect for creating a shield of psychic protection and for balancing etheric and physical energies. Angelite can be used to aid expression and communication in-group settings and in relationships. Maybe it’s time to put the passive aggressive post-its aside and reach for the Angelite instead?
Angelite is also used commonly used in crystal healing. It supports the throat, alleviating inflammation and balancing the thyroid and the parathyroid and repairs tissue and corrects blood deficiencies (helping to renew blood vessels). Angelite can help balance the fluids within the physical body and can act as a diuretic, making it useful in weight control.
Angelite can also be used for headaches, heart function, the circulatory system and infectious diseases.
