Day 12 | Labradorite Serpent-Moth Carving
A modern mystical mash-up of two ancient archetypes – the serpent (transformation, power, protection) and the moth (intuition, following the light in the dark).
Significance of the Serpent–Moth Shape
Your Day 12 treasure is a creature that doesn’t officially exist in myth… but honestly should. This Serpent–Moth carving blends two of the most symbolically powerful beings in spiritual lore. It’s not an ancient icon; it’s a modern mystical hybrid, born from the fusion of archetypes that have guided witches, wanderers, and intuitives for centuries.
The Serpent
Symbol of shedding, renewal, primal energy, and sacred knowledge. Snakes represent healing, regeneration, protection, and the courage to face your own evolution.
The Moth
Symbol of intuition, dream travel, light-seeking, shadow-navigating, and transformation through softness rather than force. Moths move by instinct, follow glow in darkness, and trust the unseen path.
Together
This mash-up becomes a familiar of transformation and intuitive awakening:
• shedding what’s outdated
• trusting inner guidance
• moving through darkness with purpose
• embracing change as magic rather than fear
In Unearthed lore, this Serpent–Moth familiar represents shadow-work done with clarity, transformation supported by intuition, and protection as you evolve into your next chapter.
Stone Meaning – Labradorite
Labradorite is pure enchantment, the stone of transformation, intuition, and spiritual protection. Its iconic flash – labradorescence – comes from light refracting through microscopic layers inside the stone. Inuit legend says these flashes are frozen northern lights, released from stone by a warrior’s strike.
Emotionally, Labradorite helps dissolve doubt, strengthen self-trust, and quiet the overthinking mind so you can hear your intuition clearly. Spiritually, it strengthens psychic vision, dream messages, and energetic boundaries.
Matched with the Serpent–Moth hybrid, Labradorite’s message becomes sharp and luminous:
You’re shifting. Listen closely. Trust the glow.
How to Use Your Piece
Let your Serpent–Moth be your little guide through transitions, intuitive work, or shadow integration.
Try this:
• Place it on your altar to anchor transformation rituals
• Keep it near tarot/oracle decks for clearer readings
• Use it during meditation for third-eye activation
• Carry it when navigating emotional shedding or life changes
• Place it by your bed to encourage symbolic dreams and intuitive messages
Caring for Your Crystal
• Water: Safe for brief contact; avoid long soaking
• Light: Keep out of harsh direct sun to preserve flash
• Cleansing: Smoke, sound, or selenite are perfect
• Charging: New moon, full moon, or beside Clear Quartz
• Handling: Durable, but carved details appreciate gentle care

Perfect carving and the perfect stone for all the inner work I’ve been doing. Every day, I’m blown away by how uncannily spot-on each crystal from the advent calendar is – sometimes aligning with the intention I set as I wake, and other times (like today) arriving as the exact support for the tougher layers I’ve been unravelling this year.
At first glance, mine looks softly grey… but, as with all true beauty, the closer you look, the more it reveals. Those luminous, ethereal blues shimmer through like hidden wings in moonlight. And although I’m not usually the biggest fan of moths or snakes, I’m absolutely delighted this little familiar chose to land in my treasure chest today. A tiny, magical reminder that transformation often comes in unexpected forms. ✨ 🦋 🐍
