Day 20 | Silver Sheen Obsidian 9-tailed Fox + Moon
Significance of the Nine-Tailed Fox and Moon Shape
Day 20 arrives with a carving that is full-blown mythical energy. The nine-tailed fox appears in East Asian folklore as a powerful spirit being known for intelligence; transformation; charm; and deep magical ability. Each tail represents a level of wisdom or mastery. The nine-tailed fox is a guide through illusion, intuition, and personal empowerment.
Paired with the crescent moon, this becomes a symbol of intuition, shadow work, and divine feminine energy. The moon governs dreams, cycles, and the subtle realms. Together, the fox and moon form a powerful duo that guides you through transformation, helps you see through façades, and supports you in trusting your instincts.
This carving whispers: trust your magic; follow your intuition; let transformation be your companion, not your fear.
Stone Meaning – Silver Sheen Obsidian
Silver Sheen Obsidian is volcanic glass that carries a luminous, moonlike gleam across its surface. Historically used for scrying and spirit communication, this stone is all about depth, clarity, and reflection. It helps reveal hidden truths and strengthens your ability to navigate shadow energy with confidence.
Emotionally, it acts like a mirror for the soul. It shows you what needs to be released; what needs to be honoured; and what needs to be protected. It stabilises your energy, clears away emotional clutter, and strengthens your boundaries with grace rather than force.
Spiritually, Silver Sheen Obsidian enhances intuitive skill, protects your aura, and creates a safe container for exploring deeper layers of your consciousness. It is the perfect stone for lunar energy, dreamwork, inner vision, and shadow exploration.
With a nine-tailed fox, this becomes a carving of spiritual strategy; insight; and empowered self-awareness.
How to Use Your Piece
Let your fox-and-moon carving be your companion in intuition work, dream practices, and personal transformation.
Try this:
• Keep it on your altar for psychic protection and intuitive development
• Use it during meditation to access inner guidance
• Place it by your bed to enhance dream recall and lunar energy
• Keep it near tarot or oracle decks to sharpen insight
• Hold it while journalling through cycles of change or shadow work
Caring for Your Crystal
• Water: Obsidian is safe for brief contact; avoid long soaking
• Light: Gentle light only; harsh sun can dull the sheen
• Cleansing: Smoke, sound, or selenite
• Charging: Moonlight is ideal for this stone
• Handling: Durable, but carved details like tails and ears appreciate care

Well today’s advent calendar was a real mystery. I recognised the silver sheen obsidian straight away, saw a strange shape, that as I turned it ,spotted the crescent moon, but what is this on the moon? Oh, it’s a bushy-tailed squirrel! How cute!
The card didn’t actually say what the shape is.
So I photographed it, sent it to my friend who is totally invested in my Unearthed Crystals advent calendar. Then I looked at the website and… ooohhh, it’s a nine tailed fox. * takes another look – nope, that’s definitely a bushy-tailed squirrel.
So for anyone else who sees a playful squirrel here is a little something I put together for the meaning of today’s wonderful surprise.
Silver Sheen Obsidian Bushy-Tailed Squirrel?
Here’s the soul-level translation:
Squirrels gather, store, and plan —
but they do it playfully, not anxiously. They don’t question whether winter will come –
they trust they’ll meet it when it does. Squirrels are productive and joyful.
They chase, leap, misjudge branches, laugh it off, try again.
Silver sheen obsidian put together with the squirrel:
Quiet insight + gentle preparation + trust in timing.
“You are allowed to prepare joyfully, trust your future self, and gather without fear.
You don’t need to see the whole path — just the next branch.”
Honestly?
If this advent calendar were personally curated for my current chapter, this carving would make absolute sense. 🖤🐿️✨
