Spell Candles 101

Spell Candles 101: Colour Magic for Busy Witches (and the Curious-Curious)

Spell candles are basically intention with a wick. You pick a colour that matches what you’re calling in (or kicking out), light it with purpose, and let the flame do what flames do best: transform stuff. Fast, focused, and strangely satisfying.

Our Spell & Wish Candles are made for exactly this kind of work: mini ritual size, unscented, and burn for about 1 hour (aka perfect for a single session without committing to an all-day vigil like it’s 1643).

Why colour matters (besides looking cute on your altar)

Colour magic is symbolism plus psychology plus the part of your brain that goes “yep, this feels right”. When you choose a colour intentionally, you’re giving your mind (and energy) a clear instruction. Think of it like setting your GPS before you start driving.

And yes, you can absolutely mix colours to layer intentions. For example:

Avada-TextAndImage__Image

Green + Yellow = money + confidence (get the bag, then keep it)

Blue + White = calm + cleansing (goodbye nervous system chaos)

Black + Indigo = protection + dreamwork (sleep, but make it warded)

Spell Candle Colour Meanings (Unearthed edition)

Hot tip: If you’re ever stuck, white is the classic “all-purpose” candle in many traditions, while black is often treated as its own category for banishing and protection work. (Not rules, just well-worn magical footpaths.)

How to use a spell candle (simple, effective, zero theatre required)

Your candle is unscented, so it won’t bulldoze your focus with fragrance (or clash with herbs, oils, incense, or sensory preferences).

The 7-step “light it and mean it” ritual

  1. Pick one intention. Be specific. “More money” is fine; “steady income that doesn’t wreck my peace” is better.
  2. Choose your colour based on the table above.
  3. Cleanse your space (optional but cute): a quick clap, a bell, smoke cleanse, or even a windows-open reset.
  4. Write it down: a petition on paper, a sentence in your notes app, whatever.
  5. Light the candle and speak your intention out loud or in your mind.
  6. Let it burn safely until it naturally goes out, or snuff it and relight later if you need to break your ritual into sessions.
  7. Close it out: thank your guides, your higher self, your future timeline. You’re done.

Bonus: layering tools (because we love an accessory)

These candles play very nicely with:

  • Crystals (pick one that matches your intention, pop it nearby)
  • Herbs (sprinkle around your candle holder, not onto the flame)
  • Moon work (Silver/Grey for moon rituals is a chef’s kiss moment)

When to choose each colour (quick cheat sheet)

If you want a super fast decision tree:

  • Protection or banishing? Black. (Add Indigo if it’s affecting sleep.)
  • Clean slate, healing, clarity? White or Blue.
  • Money, work wins, growth? Green or Forest Green.
  • Confidence, exams, speaking your truth? Yellow (with Blue if emotions are involved).
  • Creativity, momentum, quick results? Orange.
  • Romance and softness? Rose.
  • Self-love and magnetic energy? Hot Pink.
  • Intuition and spiritual glow-up (not that word, but you know what I mean)? Purple or Indigo.
  • Home stability, legal stuff, grounded outcomes? Brown.
  • Dreamwork, lunar rituals, balance? Silver/Grey.

Safety, because we like our rituals drama-free

  • Always burn on a heatproof surface.
  • Keep away from curtains, kids, pets, and that one friend who gestures wildly while talking.
  • Snuff instead of blowing if you can (less smoke, less chaos).
  • Never leave a lit candle unattended.

  • Place the crystal beside the candle (not under it, not in the wax pool).
  • Speak your intention while holding the crystal for 10–20 seconds.
  • Light the candle and let it burn safely (or snuff and relight across sessions).
  • When finished, keep the crystal somewhere relevant (wallet for abundance, bedside for dreams, front door for protection).

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Can I use more than one candle at once?

Absolutely. Use multiple colours to layer your intention, or repeat the same colour across several sessions for a longer working.

Do I have to burn it all in one go?

Nope. These are designed for focused work, but you can snuff and relight later if needed.

I’m new. Is this beginner-friendly?

Yes. The candles are literally made for baby witches and seasoned spell-slingers alike.
