Tiger Eye has the energy of knowing exactly where you're going, even if you're still figuring out the route. With its shifting bands of gold, bronze and brown, this stone has long been associated with courage, protection, confidence and clear decision-making.

Its combination of earthy brown and golden light perfectly suits its metaphysical reputation. Tiger Eye is considered both grounding and energising, helping you keep your feet firmly planted while still having the confidence to move forward.

It is particularly useful when fear and overthinking have teamed up to run the meeting. Tiger Eye brings the focus back to what you know, what you can control and what you're actually going to do next.

Metaphysical Properties

Tiger Eye is traditionally considered a stone of personal power, courage and protection. Connected with both the Solar Plexus and Root Chakras, it combines confidence and willpower with grounding and stability.

It is often used when making important decisions because of its association with discernment and mental clarity. Rather than encouraging impulsive action, Tiger Eye is believed to help balance emotion with logic, allowing situations to be viewed from a calmer and more practical perspective.

Tiger Eye is also associated with prosperity and success, particularly when these require discipline, persistence and good judgement rather than simple luck.

Its protective reputation makes it popular as a stone to carry during travel, challenging situations or whenever stronger energetic boundaries are needed.

Scientific Fun Fact

Tiger Eye is a variety of Quartz famous for its chatoyancy, the silky band of reflected light that appears to move across the stone when it is turned.

This optical effect developed from its unusual geological history. Tiger Eye forms through the alteration of a fibrous mineral, traditionally described as crocidolite, while microscopic fibrous structures are preserved within Quartz.

Iron from the original material oxidises during this process, producing the golden, brown and reddish colours characteristic of Tiger Eye.

That moving stripe of light isn't pigment or a surface effect. It is created by the stone's internal fibrous structure interacting with light.

Old Lore & Magic

Tiger Eye has long been used as a protective talisman, with its eye-like appearance naturally inspiring associations with watchfulness and the ability to recognise danger.

Historically, eye-shaped stones and amulets have been used across numerous cultures as protection against the evil eye, envy and ill intention. Tiger Eye fitted naturally into later protective traditions because its chatoyant surface appears almost alive as it moves in the light.

It has also become associated with wealth, luck and successful ventures, particularly in modern crystal and magical traditions. It is commonly placed near money, carried during business negotiations or used in prosperity workings where courage and practical action are required.

Less "money will magically appear" and more "make the smart decision and back yourself."

Shape significance

Using crystals for their spiritual and healing properties can be fun and fascinating and is a killer way to connect with the earth’s energy.  But, when you really start digging into the magickal world of sparkly stones, it can start getting really overwhelming.

Not only do crystals come in every colour of the rainbow and serve different intended purposes, they are also found in many different shape formations.  Newbies to the crystal world may think the way a stone is cut or shaped is purely aesthetic, but there’s a little more to a crystal’s shape than meets the eye.  Just as the colours of the stones convey unique meanings, crystal shapes also matter. And while experts say that the structure of a crystal doesn’t change the type of energy it emits, the shape DOES affect the way you receive said energy.

We've put together a handy blog for you to learn about the possible reason or meaning behind the forms of crystals you're drawn to here
