___

Amethyst is the crystal equivalent of silencing the group chat, dimming the lights and finally hearing yourself think. Its violet glow brings calm, clarity and spiritual protection to minds that insist on running twenty tabs at once.

The vibe is serene but switched on: peaceful enough to soften the stress, intuitive enough to spot what your busy brain has been missing.

Metaphysical Properties:

Working through the Third Eye and Crown Chakras, Amethyst is traditionally used to support meditation, intuition and spiritual awareness. It helps create a calm inner space where insight can surface without having to shout over anxious thoughts.

It’s also considered a protective stone, often kept near beds, meditation spaces and entrances to promote a clearer atmosphere. Amethyst doesn’t promise to solve the drama, but it may help you approach it with better boundaries and considerably less chaos.

Emotional & Spiritual Benefits:

  • Calms mental chatter and emotional overstimulation

  • Encourages clear thinking and intuitive awareness

  • Supports meditation, dreamwork and spiritual reflection

  • Promotes healthier boundaries around draining energy

  • Creates a peaceful focus for bedtime routines

  • Helps replace impulsive reactions with thoughtful choices

Scientific Fun Fact:

Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, composed of silicon dioxide (\mathrm{SiO_2}). Its colour develops through trace iron, natural irradiation and changes within the crystal lattice. It crystallises in the trigonal system and measures 7 on the Mohs hardness scale.

Heat can permanently alter its colour, sometimes turning purple Amethyst yellow, orange or green. Much of the commercial “citrine” market consists of heat-treated Amethyst, while heated green material may be sold as prasiolite.

When to Use Amethyst:

  • When your mind refuses to clock off

  • Before meditation, journalling or intuitive work

  • During study or planning sessions that require calm focus

  • At bedtime as part of a peaceful wind-down routine

  • When you need protection without emotionally shutting down

  • Any time your inner wisdom needs more volume than the outside noise
