Stone Meaning

BALANCE | CLARITY | CONFIDENCE

AFFIRMATION: “I make space for reflection and move forward with clear, confident intention.”

BEST FOR: Balancing contemplation with action; intention-setting; exploring decisions with confidence and perspective

CHAKRA: Solar Plexus • Third Eye • Crown

Ametrine is where “let me think about it” meets “right, let’s get started”. With purple and golden colour zones sharing one quartz crystal, it makes a striking symbol of reflection and ambition getting along beautifully.

Its message? You can be thoughtful without remaining permanently in the planning stage. Equally, you can want big things without turning every waking moment into a productivity challenge. Balance has range.

Metaphysical Properties
Modern crystal traditions associate Ametrine with balance, clarity and purposeful action. Its Third Eye and Crown symbolism reflects contemplation and spiritual insight, while the Solar Plexus connection represents confidence and personal choice. These are spiritual correspondences, not scientifically established health effects.

The amethyst side is traditionally linked with reflection; the citrine side with optimism and motivation. Together, they offer a useful theme for intention-setting: understand what matters to you, then decide what you’re prepared to do about it.

Spiritually, work with Ametrine when exploring competing priorities or bringing a creative idea into everyday life. Try two journal prompts: “What do I need to understand?” and “What can I do next?” Neither requires a twelve-month master plan.

Spiritual Benefits

As a focus for reflection and ritual, Ametrine can represent:

  • Balance between thoughtful pauses and decisive action

  • Confidence that leaves room for curiosity

  • Optimism supported by practical choices

  • Recognition that rest and ambition can coexist

  • Clear intentions followed by manageable next steps

Scientific Fun Fact

Ametrine is bicoloured quartz, silicon dioxide (SiO₂), displaying the purple of amethyst and the yellow-to-orange tones of citrine within the same crystal. Genuine natural ametrine isn’t two separate stones joined together.

Its contrasting colours relate to differences in iron-associated colour mechanisms across crystal growth sectors. Nature creates the zoning; a gem cutter’s orientation can emphasise a sharp division or let the colours mingle through reflections.

Like other quartz varieties, it has a Mohs hardness of 7. Laboratory-grown ametrine also exists, so appearance alone doesn’t establish natural origin.

When to Use

  • During intention-setting for a new project

  • When weighing options before making a decision

  • Alongside creative planning or reflective journalling

  • In meditation followed by a practical action plan

  • When reviewing whether your commitments match your priorities

ORIGINS: Bolivia, particularly the Anahí mine; ametrine is also documented from Bolivia’s Yuruty mine

Ametrine’s message: trust your insight, make a plan and remember that the vision board isn’t going to send that email.

What is intuitively chosen?

When you see the below bold sentence on a listing of ours, it means we have multiple of that stone and we will pick one that we feel is right for you. We call them intuitively chosen pieces because we use our intuition to choose a piece we feel is calling us for you - a piece that is absolutely meant to be yours. We are huge believers in the crystal chooses the owner, not the other way around.

We do our best to make sure that the listing photos and information accurately depicts what we have available so you have an idea of what is coming your way, but the rest is up to the universe.

If you don't see the below on our listing, it's because it is a one off piece and we guarantee that what is pictured is the exact piece you will receive.

Shape significance

Using crystals for their spiritual and healing properties can be fun and fascinating and is a killer way to connect with the earth’s energy.  But, when you really start digging into the magickal world of sparkly stones, it can start getting really overwhelming.

Not only do crystals come in every colour of the rainbow and serve different intended purposes, they are also found in many different shape formations.  Newbies to the crystal world may think the way a stone is cut or shaped is purely aesthetic, but there’s a little more to a crystal’s shape than meets the eye.  Just as the colours of the stones convey unique meanings, crystal shapes also matter. And while experts say that the structure of a crystal doesn’t change the type of energy it emits, the shape DOES affect the way you receive said energy.

We've put together a handy blog for you to learn about the possible reason or meaning behind the forms of crystals you're drawn to here
