Lepidolite is a name for a group of lithium-rich micas, rather than one precisely defined mineral species. These include minerals in the polylithionite–trilithionite series. Their layered structure produces thin sheets and that characteristic pearly shimmer.
The familiar pink-to-purple colour is generally associated with manganese, not lithium. Its name also references its scale-like structure. Pretty, yes; but the sparkle has a geological explanation.
Despite popular marketing claims, containing lithium does not make a Lepidolite crystal equivalent to lithium medication or a treatment for anxiety.
