Scientific Fun Fact
Sunstone is a gem name used for several feldspars, including oligoclase, labradorite and orthoclase. Its characteristic glitter, called aventurescence, comes from light reflecting off tiny, flat inclusions. These may include hematite or copper, depending on the material; Oregon Sunstone is particularly known for copper inclusions. Not every specimen sold as Sunstone displays visible glitter.
